Determining the importance of English for students in the era of globalization, Van Lang Secondary School (Phu Tho) has cooperated with IIG Vietnam in many activities to improve the quality of teaching and learning of this subject.

Implement integrated English program

With a history of more than 20 years, Van Lang Secondary School is one of the top quality schools in Phu Tho province. The school is one of 15 schools selected by the province to implement the English and IT program according to international standards within the framework of cooperation between the Department of Education and Training of Phu Tho Province and IIG Vietnam. Accordingly, starting from the 2019-2020 school year, Van Lang Secondary School has officially launched the online English program – English Discoveries (ED) integrated with a set of general textbooks for grade 6 students. In the 2020-2021 school year, the school continues to expand the implementation of the integrated ED program for all 6th grade students to help improve English proficiency and the ability to apply IT in teaching and learning in a meaningful way

Previously, within the framework of cooperation, to ensure the best implementation of the integrated ED program into teaching, IIG Vietnam organized a training course on how to use the program for teachers of middle and high schools in Phu Tho province, including the teachers of Van Lang Secondary School. Participating in the training course, the school’s teachers were introduced to teaching methods as well as practical activities. 

Promote attractive extracurricular activities

Besides the regular teaching activities, IIG Vietnam also accompanies Van Lang Secondary School in a number of extra-curricular activities to encourage the students’ passion for learning English. Within the framework of the “English Speaking Festival” which was successfully held at the end of October 2020, IIG Vietnam is pleased to be an award sponsor and judge for the English Speech Contest organized by the School. The contest attracted 104 students to compete in 2 rounds during a week. IIG Vietnam awarded 1,000,000 VND to the winners of the Special Prize and 500,000 VND each to 3 students who won the first prize of the contest.

Not only is it one of the leading schools in the movement of teaching and learning English in Phu Tho province, but Van Lang Secondary School also regularly mobilizes students to participate in prestigious English competitions across the country. In May 2020, when the Toefl Junior competition was held for the first time in the province, the school’s students were very excited to join, and 5 of the school’s students excellently won high prizes, three students were chosen to the Finals Round, competed with other high school students. 

IIG Vietnam hope that through cooperative activities with the Van Lang Secondary School, IIG Vietnam will contribute to encouraging the movement of teaching and learning English, “refueling” the passion for English of secondary school students.
